Concrete Is Gray, but We’re Vibrant.

    Our Team

People know us as a joyful and energetic crew. We value true Southern hospitality at Silverback – even if you’re cheering for the other football team.

All jokes aside, faith in God grounds us and defines how we treat clients and teammates. We built our business on the firmest foundation: the finished work and sustaining presence of Jesus. As the apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 3:11, “For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” We rest in Him, and this makes us indomitable. The promise of perfect peace and the renewal of all things – this is why we work hard and grind every day. It’s only concrete, but we believe today’s sweat builds tomorrow’s kingdom.

Our work is driven by the call to build and cultivate in His name. Honoring our commitments. Loving everyone because Christ loved us while we were yet sinners. Being ourselves. Building for generations.

    Frank Stankunas

    President

In 1996, Frank started Stankunas Pumping and Concrete with a $5,000 loan. Within ten years, he grew the business to more than $20 million a year, performing jobs for some of the top general contractors in the Southeast, including DR Horton and Brasfield & Gorrie. Before starting his own business, Frank worked for Sherman Concrete and Nichols Concrete Pumping.

Frank played football at Auburn University under the great Pat Dye and graduated with a degree in Physical Education in 1991. He married his college sweetheart, Sharon. They have four children, including Trace, Tyler and Hayden who work alongside their dad.

Frank is passionate about mission work. He serves on the board of the Mexico Orphan Mission (MOM) and has built churches and orphanages in Mexico, Peru and Africa.

    Frank Stankunas Jr. (Trace)

    Vice President, Field Operations

Trace graduated from high school in 2013 and has served in construction ever since. He’s worked for companies like Morris Shea Bridge, building auger cast piles and learning a wide range of skills, which he now brings to Silverback Concrete.

Trace provides hands-on leadership and project management for most of our ongoing jobs. He’s certified for elevated decks by the Post-Tension Institute and specializes in post-tension, elevated decks and heavy concrete.

    Tyler Stankunas

    Vice President, Commercial Concrete

Tyler grew up with a front-row seat to heavy concrete. Starting in high school, he worked summers alongside Frank, Trace and Hayden.

Tyler holds a Building Science degree from Auburn University. He spent two internships working with self-perform concrete at Bailey Harris Construction.

Before joining Silverback, Tyler was Assistant Field Manager for the national construction firm Brasfield & Gorrie. He led a carpenter crew for the company’s self-perform concrete division. As head of Silverback’s commercial division, Tyler promotes and maintains our standards of precision and grit for every commercial and industrial project from Florida to Virginia.

    Hayden Stankunas

    Vice President, Florida

Like his brothers, Hayden has been involved in concrete construction most of his life and joined Silverback full-time in 2018. As head of our Florida division, he oversees commercial and residential construction from house slabs to high rises.

Hayden also leads Silverback’s pest control division, a unique service that allows us to pre-treat our own slabs. He also manages the mechanical team, ensuring that our truck fleet and heavy equipment are always battle-ready.

    Angela House

    Vice President

As VP, Angela serves as the chief estimator and senior project manager for Silverback Concrete. She is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction.

Before joining Silverback she served as an estimator and assistant project manager for Brasfield & Gorrie, specializing in healthcare construction.

Angela spends most of her time enjoying family life with her husband Seth and their five children.

    Jonathan Basford

    Director of Operations

Jonathan has a Master of Science in Business Management from the University of Florida. He previously worked in concrete construction, but most recently served as the Director of Operations for The Family Church in Gainesville.

As Silverback’s Director of Operations, Jonathan manages our finances, facilities, human resources and more.

Jonathan and his wife have five children and are foster parents as well. They are founding members of Foster Florida, a non-profit that helps the community provide wrap-around services for foster families.

    David Ahrens

    Regional Manager, Virginia

David has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Military Institute. He oversees Silverback’s commercial concrete projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic, assisting whenever necessary. And whenever the team needs a seasoned pair of hands to help pour concrete, David’s up for it. He works with field and management teams to ensure consistent service and high-quality concrete for our customers.

With over 30 years of experience in commercial construction, David knows what it takes to lead projects and plan for the worst while striving for the best. With a background in general contracting, he brings a holistic perspective to projects and client relationships, positioning Silverback as both a subcontractor and a guide.

    Les Jordan

    General Superintendent

Les provides hands-on leadership and management for commercial and industrial projects. He is certified by the Post-Tension Institute to install and tension post-tension slabs. His responsibilities range from layout, foundations and flatwork to elevated decks and vertical concrete.

Before joining Silverback, Les played football at Savannah State University, where he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 2018.

Les has worked on heavy concrete jobs all over the Southeast, including a two-year job for Virginia’s largest public school in Mecklenburg County where he supervised subcontractors and jumped in alongside teammates to pour over 9,300 cubic yards of concrete.

    Raheem Saunders

    Concrete Plant Supervisor & Dispatcher

Raheem joined Silverback as a Concrete Laborer in 2018. As a result of his strong work ethic and discipline, he soon became Silverback’s Residential Superintendent. Now, Raheem leads Silverback’s ready mix division and manages concrete dispatching across Greater Gainesville. Having dealt with all manner of slumps, timings and square footages, he can accurately plan and prepare concrete for jobs from backyards to thousands of yards.

Raheem enjoys the variety and physicality of Silverback’s commercial and residential projects. On any given day, you’ll find him prepping for heavy industrial slabs, small sinkhole pours and everything in between.

    Bo Dean

    Regional Manager

Like another and slightly-more-famous Bo, our Bo shares the Stankunas family’s deep ties to Auburn football. His father was a long-snapper on Auburn’s special teams and played alongside Frank when they were both in college.

Bo manages Silverback’s Orlando concrete plant, providing production oversight and project management of driveways, sinkholes and foundations across central Florida. Value and efficiency are essential to Bo – giving general contractors and owners excellent work at the most competitive cost.

    Allen Jones

    Plant Manager, Virginia

Allen runs our concrete plant in South Hill, Virginia. He’s responsible for keeping the plant running efficiently, maintaining safety and cultivating an environment that stays true to Silverback’s ethos.

With 27 years of experience pumping, batching and operating mixers, Allen knows his way around concrete: what it takes to be on time, deliver superb ready mix and surpass our clients’ expectations.

    Paul Ebaugh

    Deputy Director of Operations

Paul is the only person we know who was a chef for 30 years and then made the leap to construction. At Silverback, he’s found that managing a kitchen and managing concrete are more similar than you might think. As he says, “Both are fast-paced and physically intense. Accomplishing the seemingly impossible in short order is business as usual. And every day, you see the fruits of your labor take shape.”

Along with Jonathan in Florida and Cameron in Virginia, Paul helps Silverback’s operational ship stay afloat. You’ll find him wearing multiple hats on any given day, from bookkeeping and HR to tech onboarding for our CDL drivers.

    Derek Vasquez

    Plant Dispatcher

Derek handles dispatching for Silverback’s Gainesville plant, covering a range from Sarasota to Jacksonville. He ensures our operators have everything they need, from well-maintained trucks to detailed instructions and timely updates about every job.

Derek’s role requires constant contact with drivers and clients, and he believes honesty and integrity are non-negotiable when it comes to communication. As he says, “Clients know I’ll level with them when problems arise. Sadly, it seems truthfulness has become a rare value in every sector. These days, it’s an actual point of difference if you simply tell the truth.”

    Cree Nettleton

    Residential Superintendent, Florida

Cree has worked in a variety of management roles since age 19. He’s developed a knack for reading people and finding solutions that benefit everyone involved. He sees shifting schedules, shortages and last-minute changes as opportunities to serve well and stand firm under pressure.

Cree runs a portion of Silverback’s residential division in Gainesville, supporting Hayden’s leadership of our Florida division and pouring concrete with our crews whenever necessary.

    Cameron Currie

    Operations Manager, Virginia

Cameron oversees operations for Silverback’s Virginia branch. His interpersonal skills, optimism and attention to detail enable him to process data and solve problems quickly. In addition to honing our processes, he heads up HR, personnel, accounts payable and receivable, and DOT compliance.

Cameron appreciates having an employer who shares his faith, recognizes his talent and challenges him to grow. In his words, “It’s gratifying to work with people who have each other’s backs. I feel challenged, supported and trusted. Our team feels more like a family than a collection of coworkers.”

    Justin Curtis

    Assistant Superintendent & Field Engineer

Justin holds a business degree from Stetson University and a Master’s in construction management from the University of Florida. Having played college football at Stetson and at UF under Billy Napier, he’s learned that a strong team can accomplish far more than a star player.

Justin juggles two roles at Silverback. As Assistant Superintendent, he’s the right hand to Les, huddling up each morning to plan the day, providing management support and onsite guidance for commercial projects. And as Field Engineer, he surveys job sites with a Robotic Total Station or RTS, a state-of-the-art tool that allows us to create dead-accurate layouts – ensuring that every building ends up exactly where it’s supposed to be, down to one-thousandth of an inch.

    Austin Harrell

    Project & Safety Manager

Austin’s had a front-row seat to commercial construction his entire life. His father has spent his career in commercial concrete and worked for Frank Stankunas’s previous company from 2001–2008.

Austin is responsible for consistent and accurate communication, ensuring that information flows in the right direction. And he helps maintain an accident-free environment by learning and implementing the various safety protocols that each project requires. When Silverbackers walk onto a job site, Austin’s goal is for everyone to know exactly what they’re responsible for. This level of foresight results in fewer mistakes and accidents, less waste and better use of the client’s budget.

    Matt Bergman

    Estimator & Project Manager

Matt learned the tricks of the project management trade at Universal Technical Institute of Technology (UTI/MMI). At Silverback Virginia, he estimates the cost of materials, labor and equipment for potential projects.

Similar to another Matt on our team, he doesn’t simply ship a bid and move on to the next set of numbers. Project management is the other half of Matt’s role. Clients can rest easy knowing he’ll stay involved and provide quality assurance until the last truck drives away.

    Matt Godwin

    Estimator & Project Manager

Matt knows dirt. He went to school for it, with a Bachelor’s in Geology from UF as proof. Before joining Silverback, Matt worked in building materials distribution, touching every facet of the business from selling and preparing bids to creating new product programs, leading marketing and navigating relationships with high-level executives.

Matt’s dirt, rock and business knowledge come in handy when estimating jobs and matching our approach to the terrain. He helps close the gap between expectation and delivery by seeing projects through to the end, ensuring that our client’s dreams and drawings translate smoothly into cold concrete.

    Austin Deters

    Plant Dispatcher, Virginia

Austin is an excellent communicator with a knack for managing concrete schedules. When it comes to his role as Plant Dispatcher, he believes agility is the name of the game. When a truck needs service or the weather throws a wrench in our plans, he goes into overdrive to fill or reschedule the delivery.

Austin relishes working with a team of concrete specialists who believe durability isn’t a line item. And he’s found that Silverback’s generous and supportive leadership team makes even the longest workday worthwhile.
